Argon Online is a adventure and RPG system based on Dungeons & Dragons d20 system (3d edition) from Wizards of the Coast, created using LambdaMOO, the programming language of MOO (MUD Object Oriented), a virtual enviroment for social interaction and programming, derivated from MUDs.
This project is very similar to MUDs, but have a focus on something book plkayers of RPG misses on MUDs: role playing.

In a MUD the objective is limited to raive level, nothing more. In out system we plann to ofert a choise on with players have an history, make part of it on the best way they judge following their character motives, interact with NPCs (not player characters) do quests following the history, and with consequences on history.

This system is a volunteer, open source and in progress work, it's on alpha stage and even when ready to use, will continue to be under development and changes, even during gameplay.
This is because I'm programming it almost alone, without documentation or similar programs, because this is a project never made on MOO. We think this is the best way to not simply copy something, but to creat something more close to real RPG but using what we like on MUD system.
This project have much more basis than simply MUD, we have got inspiration from other games, and sure, the real book RPG system. Out list is big: Dungeons & Dragons, GURPS, CircleMUD, Daggerfall, Baldur's Gate, Diablo and others.

We predicted the system was going to be ready on october, 1998, but as you see this was just alucinatoin of us.
Some important problems made us stop the project some times and rewrite it, but we kept going. We changed Argon from SciFi MOO to a new, clean database with give us a lot of speed.
So, now we don't know when Argon will be ready, but we hope to have a close beta stage soon, we ask forgivness to the people who sent us forms for characters requiriments, but as now we haven't a server to run it in public, we can't give them the players.
